In electronics manufacturing the shoe decides whether an assembly reaches the test bench undamaged. The AVIAT LOW drains the wearer charge through footbed and outsole and is built for a person-shoe-floor system below 100 MOhm, the limit set by DIN EN 61340-5-1 for the ESD workplace. At the same time it meets safety class S1PL to EN ISO 20345:2022.

What the shoe delivers

• ESD dissipation, not just antistatic. EN ISO 20345 allows antistatic footwear a range from 0.1 to 1000 MOhm, so it is no ESD proof on its own. PUMA Safety lists the AVIAT LOW explicitly as an ESD shoe for workplaces run to DIN EN 61340-5-1.
• Steel toe cap with a stated test load. The toe cap withstands an impact of 200 joule and a compression of 15 kilonewton under EN ISO 20345.
• Penetration resistance without metal. The flexible FAP insert carries code letter L under the 2022 edition. It is tested with a 4.5 millimetre nail at 1100 newton and stays pliable.
• Cushioning for the whole shift. The REBOUND compact PU outsole carries an EFFECT.FOAM midsole that absorbs impact energy and gives it back. The heel region absorbs at least 20 joule as required by class S1.
• Climate inside the shoe. The hard-wearing microfibre upper repels dirt and water, the BreathActive functional lining moves moisture outwards.
• No exposed metal. The upper is built without metal parts, which protects sensitive surfaces when kneeling at a machine.

Electronics manufacturing and EPA areas, repair and test benches, assembly and fixture building, warehouse and order picking, service work with long walking distances. The dirt and water repellent upper also suits workshops that are not always dry.

Standards and compliance

EN ISO 20345:2022, safety class S1PL with the markings ESD, FO for the fuel oil resistant outsole and SR for slip resistance. Personal protective equipment of category 2 under EU regulation 2016/425. The manufacturer lists the model as DGUV certified. The ESD workplace additionally follows DIN EN 61340-5-1 with a person-shoe-floor system resistance below 100 MOhm. That proof is measured on site because the floor covering forms part of the result.
