ESD safety low shoe SL 605 XP from ATLAS, listed to EN ISO 20345:2022 in class S3S SR, for electronics manufacturing, assembly and warehouse work. The metal-free XP penetration-resistant insert is tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail, the alu-tec aluminium cap at 200 joules impact energy. As an ESD version to DIN EN 61340-5-1 the resistance stays below 100 megohms, supplied in standard width 10 in sizes 36 to 49.

In electronics manufacturing the walk rarely ends at the line, it continues into the warehouse and across the yard. ATLAS lists the SL 605 XP under article number 49300 to EN ISO 20345:2022 in class S3S SR, meaning a metal-free penetration-resistant insert tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail. Built as an ESD version to DIN EN 61340-5-1, the shoe keeps the resistance below 100 megohms in the person-shoe-floor measuring chain, so wearer, shoe and floor covering are measured together.

What sets this model apart

  • Charge dissipation to DIN EN 61340-5-1. ATLAS lists this model explicitly as ESD to DIN EN 61340-5-1 in its equipment list. What that guarantees is a resistance below 100 megohms in the person-shoe-floor measuring chain. That is the figure an EPA workstation is judged by, because the wearer charge drains through sole and floor covering in a controlled way instead of discharging into an assembly. EN ISO 20345 itself contains no ESD test, it only defines the wide antistatic band from 100 kilohms to 1,000 megohms and is not sufficient proof for an EPA.
  • S3S SR in plain words. The class carries everything EN ISO 20345:2022 demands for S2, meaning the toe cap tested at 200 joules, the closed heel area, energy absorption in the heel, antistatic behaviour and an upper tested against water penetration and water absorption. On top come the non-metallic penetration-resistant insert and the cleated outsole. The appended S says the insert was tested with the thin 3.0 mm nail, the sharper of the two procedures the 2022 edition defines. SR marks slip resistance, an additional requirement since 2022, tested on tile with glycerine, replacing the former codes SRA, SRB and SRC.
  • XP penetration resistance, metal free. Instead of a steel midsole the shoe carries a high-tech textile that protects against sharp objects such as nails. It is light, supports the natural torsion of the foot and stays thermally neutral, so it forms no cold bridge. Stepping onto uneven ground, its longitudinal flexibility adds footing and lowers the risk of twisting an ankle.
  • alu-tec aluminium toe cap instead of steel. The cap passes the 200 joule impact test that EN ISO 20345:2022 requires of every safety class from S1 upwards. Being anatomically shaped and light, it shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot and works against tripping caused by imbalance. Aluminium behaves in a thermally neutral way and forms no cold bridge into the shoe interior.
  • MPU REBOUND SYSTEM and MPU INNOFLEX outsole. The cushioning rests on three parts: a pressure-relieving replaceable insole with an anatomical footbed and arch support, a comfort midsole of multifunctional polyurethane with three-zone full-surface damping in heel, midfoot and forefoot, and the foamed outsole system. The INNOFLEX system guides the force along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe, the CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs the impact and the large MPU tread areas return the energy into the next step. Anyone standing eight hours on concrete notices the difference at the end of the shift.
  • SOFT nubuck leather and foot climate. ATLAS works exclusively with South American cowhide from tanneries that have passed the Leather Working Group audit. The SOFT nubuck is built for breathability and a soft feel and needs almost no breaking in. Inside works the aktiv-X functional lining, tested to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, abrasion resistant, skin friendly and made for lasting moisture regulation. It does not bleed colour, which matters with light socks and long shifts.
  • Fit and insole fitting. The model ships in width 10, the ATLAS standard width, built on a broad and foot-friendly last. ATLAS also lists the shoe as suitable for orthopaedic insole fitting to DGUV rule 112-191. Staff with a prescribed insole therefore need no special order, the marking inside the shoe remains decisive.

Areas of use

Electronics manufacturing and EPA workstations, assembly and maintenance, order picking and warehouse work including the routes across yard and ramp. The penetration-resistant insert makes the shoe usable where swarf, nails or packaging staples lie on the floor, and the cleated outsole holds on ramps and outdoors. For permanently wet workplaces a model with whole-shoe waterproofing, coded S7 in the 2022 edition, remains the better fit.

Sizes

Available in sizes 36 to 49, each in width 10 (standard width). The sales unit is one pair. The parent article covers the full range, the size is chosen at order time. ATLAS offers the same model in width 12 (extra wide) under article number 49312, so a department can stay with one shoe and only change the width.
