ESD safety shoe XT 520 GTX S3, GORE-TEX EXTRAGUARD, aluminium toe cap, black/red - Atlas 65100

Rugged and light at the same time was long a contradiction in safety footwear. The XT 520 GTX resolves it with the EXTRAGUARD upper technology from GORE-TEX, whose abrasion resistant construction is 40 percent lighter than leather according to the manufacturer and absorbs almost no moisture even under months of wet conditions. Electrically it is an ESD model: it keeps the through resistance of the person, shoe and floor chain below 100 MOhm measured to DIN EN 61340-5-1.

What sets this model apart

• GORE-TEX EXTRAGUARD upper in a lightweight shaft construction. Abrasion resistant like a rugged leather shoe, 40 percent lighter according to the manufacturer, breathable and permanently waterproof through the GORE-TEX membrane.
• Protection class S3 to EN ISO 20345. It includes a closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy absorbing heel, an upper resistant to water penetration and water absorption, penetration resistance and a cleated outsole.
• alu-tec aluminium toe cap, tested to 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. Aluminium keeps the forefoot light, which adds up over a ten hour day.
• XP metal free penetration resistance. The textile construction protects the entire sole area, stays flexible and forms no cold bridge the way a steel midsole does.
• XR-MPU outsole technology with MPU REBOUND SYSTEM for a secure footing on uneven ground and cushioning that returns absorbed energy into the movement.
• Supplied in width 10 (standard) and approved for orthopaedic insoles to DGUV 112-191.

Standards and conformity

EN ISO 20345 in the S3 SRC configuration. SRC means tested on ceramic tile with detergent and additionally on steel with glycerine. ESD capability is declared by Atlas to DIN EN 61340-5-1, with the person, shoe and floor through resistance staying below 100 MOhm. Antistatic safety shoes sit between 100 kOhm and 1,000 MOhm under EN ISO 20345, and the lower limit of 100 kOhm secures limited protection against electric shock for work up to 230 V under DGUV 112-191.
