Staff with orthopaedic needs usually fall through the gaps in foot protection, because insoles and modifications void the approval. The ERGO-MED 645 XP is built for exactly that case, approved to DGUV rule 112-191 for insoles and for certified modifications, rated EN ISO 20345:2022 in class S3S SR and with a body-shoe-floor resistance below 100 MOhm to DIN EN 61340-5-1.

What this model delivers

  • The charge goes into the floor, not into the component. Atlas states a body-shoe-floor resistance below 100 MOhm to DIN EN 61340-5-1 for its ESD footwear. The wearer is discharged continuously instead of building up a potential until the moment of contact with an assembly. EN ISO 20345 itself has no ESD test, it only defines the antistatic band from 100 kOhm to 1,000 MOhm.
  • Class S3S in plain terms. Closed seat region, antistatic properties, energy-absorbing heel, water-repellent upper, penetration resistance and a cleated outsole. The trailing S marks the non-metallic penetration-resistant insert of the 2022 edition, tested with the smaller test nail. It covers the sole area completely.
  • XP penetration resistance, metal-free. Instead of a steel midplate Atlas uses a high-tech textile containing aramid fibres. Protection against nails and swarf covers the full sole area, stays light and does not fight the natural torsion of the foot. Metal-free also means no cold bridge and no alarm at a security checkpoint.
  • Steel toe cap, tested to EN ISO 20345. The anatomically shaped steel cap withstands 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression. That corresponds to roughly 20 kg dropping onto the toe area from one metre.
  • MPU REBOUND SYSTEM. The responsive MPU midsole absorbs heel strike and returns energy during roll-off. Anyone standing eight hours on concrete or covering long distances across the plant notices the difference by the end of the day.
  • Multi-width system instead of an exemption. Every Atlas model in standard width 10 is already built on a broad, foot-friendly last. Beyond that this model is available in width 12 and in the special widths 13 and 14, so wide feet stay in the same model at the same protection level.
  • aktiv-X functional lining. The lining regulates moisture actively and lets the shoe dry out again after the shift. It does not stain, is skin-friendly and abrasion-resistant, which is what counts over months of daily wear.
  • Certified for orthopaedic modifications as well. The ERGO-MED is approved to DGUV rule 112-191 not only for insoles but also for certified modifications such as sole and heel elevations. Employees with orthopaedic needs stay inside regular foot protection.
