An earth bonding point (EBP) ties together several elements of an ESD protected area, such as the bench surface, floor mat or wrist strap, and keeps them at the same electrical potential. This bracket provides such a point with a 10 mm stud and is fixed to a wall or bench with two wood screws. The built-in 1 megohm resistor limits the current in a fault condition.

Applications

As a ground point on walls, shelves or benches, for example for floor mats, test stations or individual workstations. An EPA may have several EBPs but only one earth facility. Where several EBPs are daisy-chained, the total series resistance must not exceed the recommended level, typically one 1 megohm resistor for a 240 V supply.

Standards

Where no ground facility is available, IEC 61340-5-1 allows ESD protection by connecting all ESD control items to a common connection point. This bracket can serve that purpose.
