Handling film, lenses or small glass parts means fighting two things at once: the charge every touch creates, and the dust that charge attracts. The ASG-S anti-static gloves work on both. Soft microfibre is woven together with conductive fibres into a fabric whose specific resistance is seven megohms. That figure is a deliberate choice by the manufacturer, conductive enough to drain the charge reliably, yet with enough of a safety margin left that no unintended discharge occurs. Applications

Size Small suits narrow hands and work that depends on feel in the fingertips. Film and negatives are the classic case, where a print of a finger or a speck of attracted dust ruins the frame. The same goes for optics such as lenses, filters and prisms that would otherwise have to be held by the mount, and for photographic prints and glass parts, which the glove not only protects but wipes clean as it goes.

Care

Wash soiled gloves in a mild soap solution. The manufacturer also clears them for the washing machine at 30 to 40 °C followed by the tumble dryer. Because the anti-static behaviour comes from the fabric and not from a treatment, washing leaves none of it behind in the water.
