Compressed air tank AR1

Compressed air preparation

Aventics Series AR1 compressed-air tanks serve as buffer reservoirs in pneumatic systems, absorbing pressure peaks and reducing compressor cycling. The series covers seven sizes from 0.1 litre (AR1-G012-0010, G 1/2 connection) to 9 litres (AR1-G200-0900, G 2 connection); intermediate volumes of 0.32, 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 litres are all G 1-connected.

Compressed-air tanks are typically installed at valve islands, pneumatic drives with high peak demand, or as local buffers upstream of fast-switching consumers. AR1 tanks are pressure-resistant steel cylinder housings designed for operation in compressed-air networks up to the rated working pressure of the connected maintenance unit.

The required tank size depends on the peak volume demand of the consumer and the permissible pressure drop during peak operation. As a rule of thumb: the larger the peak volume required and the shorter the consumer duty cycle, the larger the buffer tank needed. The port size (G 1/2 to G 2) must match the nominal size of the connected maintenance unit. AR1 tanks are plumbed directly into the compressed-air line, ideally after the pressure regulator and before the consumer.

Typical applications: Buffer storage upstream of pneumatic hammers, nibblers and fast-switching grippers, pressure stabilisation on test rigs with short blow-off cycles, local pressure storage on long supply lines with high pressure loss, peak-demand equalisation at valve islands with multiple valves switching simultaneously, and system extensions in existing compressed-air networks with G 1/2 to G 2 connections.
