Vacuum generator
Vacuum technology
Festo vacuum generators of the VN series are ejector nozzles for pneumatic operation that convert compressed air into negative pressure using the Venturi principle. The programme covers nozzle sizes VN-05, VN-07, VN-10, VN-14, and VN-20, each with a broad variant range for different compressed-air ports, vacuum ports, and check-valve configurations. For monitoring functions, Festo offers variants with integrated pressure and vacuum measurement and selectable switching signals (RI/RO/RQ).
The type designation follows the structure VN-[nozzle size]-[series]-[supply port]-[vacuum port]-[check valve]: for example VN-05-H-T2-PI2-VI2-RI2 denotes a 0.5 mm nozzle, high-performance version, T2 size, IO-Link-compatible pressure and vacuum sensors, and an internal check valve. This granularity allows precise selection without compromises on integration or monitoring.
| Nozzle size | Bore | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| VN-05 | 0.5 mm | Small components, high cycle frequency |
| VN-07 | 0.7 mm | Light workpieces, medium suction area |
| VN-10 | 1.0 mm | Standard handling, universal use |
| VN-14 | 1.4 mm | Larger workpieces, porous surfaces |
| VN-20 | 2.0 mm | Heavy or absorbent workpieces, large bellows cups |
Typical applications: Decentralised vacuum supply at pick-and-place units in robot cells, vacuum grippers on gantry systems in automotive and electronics industries, handling modules in packaging machines without a central vacuum pump, and placement machines and transfer systems with demand-appropriate monitoring via IO-Link.
