ESD Safety Boot VELOCITY 2.0 MID S3S, Full-Grain Leather, Black - PUMA Safety 633880263
A shift spent between placement line, test bench and stores adds up to several kilometres, and every step charges the wearer electrostatically. The VELOCITY 2.0 MID is the ankle-high member of the MOTION PROTECT line and joins two things that belong together in an electronics plant. It is a class S3S safety shoe with a fibreglass toe cap rated for 200 joule impact energy, and it is marked as an ESD version, so the charge drains continuously into the dissipative floor instead of building up until the operator reaches for an assembly.
What this model delivers on the floor
- The charge goes into the floor, not into the assembly. The manufacturer marks this model as an ESD version, which makes it one building block of a workplace to DIN EN 61340-5-1. That standard requires the person-shoe-floor system to stay below 100 megohm. EN ISO 20345 only asks an antistatic shoe for a value between 100 kilohm and 1000 megohm, so it is no ESD proof on its own. That gap decides whether an operator discharges into the assembly. The damage rarely shows at once, it shows as an early field failure.
- S3S in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic build, energy absorbing heel rated at 20 joule, water-repellent upper, cleated and fuel-oil resistant outsole plus a puncture resistant insert. The added S means that insert is metal-free and was tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail, the stricter of the two procedures.
- Fibreglass cap and FAP insert, entirely metal-free. The toe cap takes the 200 joule impact and 15 kilonewton compression required by EN ISO 20345, weighs less than steel and carries no cold into the shoe. The flexible FAP insert covers the sole area against 1100 newton test force. No metal in the shoe means a clean pass at the detector gate and no interference with sensitive measuring equipment.
- Up to 55 percent energy return. The MOTION IMPULSE rubber outsole withstands contact heat up to 300 degrees Celsius (HRO), resists fuel oil (FO) and passes the additional slip test (SR). Above it sits a twice-foamed IMPULSE.FOAM midsole in two densities that, according to the manufacturer, returns up to 55 percent of the impact energy to the wearer.
- Ankle-high upper in smooth full-grain leather. TPU reinforcements protect the zones that fail first in daily use, backed by toe cap and heel protection. Reflective elements make the wearer visible earlier in hall traffic and in the yard. The higher shaft adds support to the ankle.
- Eight hours on your feet without paying for it in the evening. The Evercushion BA footbed supports the natural roll of the foot and the BreathActive functional lining moves moisture out. The anatomical shape with longitudinal arch support takes load off joints and ligaments across a full shift. The manufacturer size chart lists the men's range in width 11.

Applications
Electronics manufacturing and placement, test and measuring stations, repair and service, assembly, goods-in and warehouse. Puncture protection, water-repellent leather and a cleated outsole also make the model suitable for the walk across the yard and for areas with chips or splinters. For prolonged work in the wet a membrane shoe is the better choice.
Standards and conformity
PUMA SAFETY lists this model in class S3S with the additional marking ESD, FO, HRO and SR. The letter class S3S and the SR marking come from EN ISO 20345:2022, the edition that distinguishes puncture resistant inserts by design. The letter S denotes a metal-free insert tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail at 1100 newton test force. The marking FO stands for the fuel-oil resistant outsole, HRO for contact heat resistance up to 300 degrees Celsius, SR for the additional slip resistance test and ESD for the dissipative build. Proof of ESD at the workplace still runs through DIN EN 61340-5-1 and the measurement in the person-shoe-floor system. The shoe is DGUV certified and falls under PPE risk category 2.
