On an electronics shop floor the decisive figure is not sole thickness but leakage resistance. The uvex 2 trend low shoe drains the wearer's charge through footbed and outsole into the floor and stays below 100 megohm. That is the value DIN EN 61340-5-1 requires for the chain of person, shoe and floor inside an EPA. The shoe is certified to EN ISO 20345:2022 + A1:2024 in protection class S1 with the additional markings FO and SR.

Why this model

• Leakage resistance stays below 100 megohm, tested by uvex to EN 61340-4-3 and EN 61340-5-1. An antistatic rating under EN ISO 20345 alone is not proof, because it permits the wide band from 10 to the power of 5 up to 10 to the power of 9 ohm. Only a tested ESD shoe keeps the charge low enough that no component is damaged on the walk to the line.
• Protection class S1 means a closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy absorption in the heel (E) and a fuel resistant sole. The steel toe cap meets the EN ISO 20345 base requirement of 200 joule impact energy and 15 kN compression. There is no penetration resistant midplate, which keeps the shoe light and flexible.
• The uvex anti-twist heel cap stabilises the heel laterally and works against rolling the ankle. On gratings, cable bridges and pallet edges that is the difference between a stumble and a torn ligament.
• The dual density polyurethane outsole combines a cushioning midsole containing 10 percent reprocessed granulate with an abrasion resistant outer layer. It is oil and fuel resistant (FO), non-marking and withstands short-term heat up to 120 degrees Celsius.
• Width 12, a perforated microvelour upper and the distance mesh lining keep the foot dry across a full shift. The replaceable antistatic climate comfort footbed cushions heel and forefoot and can be swapped for an orthopaedic insole, the shoe is certified for uvex medicare+ to DGUV 112-191.
• Reflective elements improve visibility in dim halls and outdoors. The shoe is made 100 percent vegan and suits people with a chrome allergy because the materials are synthetic.
