When the joint sits deep inside an assembly, tip length decides. The CVC-6CH0018A is a chisel cartridge in access design, 1.78 mm wide and 16 mm long, running at a nominal 330 °C.

Cartridge series code

The first digit after the hyphen gives the temperature series: 6 for 330 °C, 7 for 390 °C, 8 for 440 °C and 9 for 470 °C. Metcal recommends the 700 series for most applications. The 600 series suits low thermal load and low temperatures, the 800 and 900 series high temperatures and high heat demand.
