Soldering tips STTC
Soldering and desoldering tips
The STTC series is Metcal's broadest soldering tip programme, covering over 100 cartridge variants in the series 600 temperature class (357 °C) for MX handpieces. The geometry range spans from fine conical tips (0.4 mm, STTC-006/022/045) through 30° and 60° bevelled and chisel forms to long versions (up to 16 mm) for hard-to-reach solder joints. Identical geometries appear under multiple part numbers (e.g. STTC-001 and STTC-101) as the series covers several MX platform generations.
| Model(s) | Shape | Tip x length (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| STTC-001 / STTC-101 | Conical | 1 x 13.5 |
| STTC-006 / STTC-106 | Conical | 0.4 x 13.7 |
| STTC-007 / STTC-107 | Conical | 1 x 16.7 |
| STTC-022 | Conical | 0.4 x 8.4 |
| STTC-043 / STTC-045 | Conical | 0.5 x 15.2 / 0.4 x 14.7 |
| STTC-013 / STTC-113 | Chisel 90° | 3 x 4.8 |
| STTC-017 | Chisel | 5 x 7.6 |
| STTC-020 | Chisel | 3.8 x 1 |
| STTC-025 | Chisel | 0.4 x 1 |
| STTC-036 | Chisel | 2.5 x 6 |
| STTC-005 / STTC-035 | Bevel 30° | 1.78 x 11.7 / 1.78 x 9.9 |
| STTC-042 | Chisel long 60° | 1.78 x 16 |
| STTC-040 | Conical bent 30° long | 0.8 x 16 |
Typical applications: Standard SMT hand soldering and rework in volume production (broad geometry range for mixed component types), through-hole soldering of connectors and transformers (wide chisel tips 3-5 mm), fine-pitch IC soldering and microscope-assisted repair (conical 0.4 mm), prototype development with frequent tip changes, and wire tacking and interconnect work in cable assembly.
