Cut wire ends fly off in an uncontrolled way and end up between the components. The 77 12 115 electronics diagonal cutter holds the offcut with its lead catcher. The round head with small bevel cuts soft wire from 0.3 to 1.6 mm dia. and the edges are laser hardened to approx. 62 HRC.
