The RUNNER 955 is not laced, it closes with the BOA Fit System. A dial pulls a steel lace evenly across the instep, the fit is set in seconds and can be adjusted one-handed, gloves on. For electronics production one more thing matters most: the shoe is ESD compliant to DIN EN 61340-5-1 and drains the wearer charge in a controlled way. Protection class S1P to EN ISO 20345 adds a steel toe cap rated for 200 joules and 15 kN plus the metal-free XP penetration insert.

What this model delivers on the floor

  • Charge is drained instead of discharged. The shoe is ESD compliant to DIN EN 61340-5-1. That standard requires the person, footwear and floor system inside an EPA to stay below 100 MΩ, and the antistatic level of EN ISO 20345 sits between 0.1 and 1000 MΩ. In practice: no component killed by a discharge on the way from the bench to the machine.
  • S1P in plain words: closed heel, antistatic, 20 joules of energy absorption in the heel area and, on top of that, penetration resistance. The right level for dry indoor areas without carrying the weight of an S3 build.
  • Closure without laces. The BOA Fit System sets the fit with a dial and a steel lace, spreading tension evenly instead of point by point like a knot. On the shop floor that removes a loose lace that can catch on a trolley or a machine.
  • Mesh upper built as a Monosock. The manufacturer specifies mesh for this article, and the RUNNER series builds the upper as a seamless Monosock of elastic LIGHT KNIT. The knit is 100 percent woven and runs without seams across the foot, sitting close like a sock and stretching with it. That removes the edges where a shoe starts to chafe after eight hours.
  • SPORTY outsole with MPU REBOUND SYSTEM. The responsive MPU foam takes up impact energy and returns it into the next step, with the pressure-relieving insole working against the load. Slip resistance SRC, meaning both the ceramic tile test with detergent and the steel floor test with glycerine were passed.
  • Metal-free penetration resistance. The XP aramid textile insert withstands the 1100 newton test nail, stays flexible and leaves the foot its natural torsion. Metal-free also means no cold bridge and no alarm at a metal detector.
  • Climate inside the shoe. The clima-stream concept moves air through the shoe, and the aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture and dries quickly. It does not stain and is skin-friendly.
