Warm production halls in summer are the reason safety sandals exist at all. The GX 145 ESD is an open model in protection class S1P to EN ISO 20345:2012 with a steel toe cap rated for 200 joules of impact energy and a metal-free XP penetration barrier made of aramid fabric. It is ESD compliant and therefore suitable for workplaces to DIN EN 61340-5-1.

Why this model

  • Charge dissipation as the first argument. The shoe is ESD compliant and keeps the resistance measured by the person-shoe-floor method of DIN EN 61340-5-1 below 100 MOhm. Static charge on the wearer drains through the sole in a controlled way instead of building up on the body. Inside an EPA that is what stops a component failing because somebody walked from the bench to the machine.
  • S1P in plain words. S1 means a closed heel, antistatic construction and an energy-absorbing heel area. The P adds the penetration-resistant midsole. Anyone walking over assembly debris, cable tie offcuts or nails has that second layer of protection under the foot.
  • Steel toe cap with tested figures. The anatomically shaped toe cap withstands at least 200 joules of impact energy and at least 15 kN of compression to EN ISO 20345:2012. That is a 20 kilogram part dropping onto the forefoot from roughly one metre.
  • XP penetration resistance without metal. Instead of a steel midsole this model uses a high-tech textile containing aramid fibres. It is light, covers the full area and lets the foot torsion work naturally. For ESD zones and metal detector gates that construction is simply more practical.
  • MESH UPPER against heat build-up. The high-tech fabric wraps the foot closely and its air texture keeps the circulation going. In warm production halls the foot climate stays comfortable into the afternoon and the shoe adds almost no bulk.
  • A women's last, not a shrunken men's shoe. The shoe is built on a dedicated women's last matched to a narrower heel, a different instep and softer bedding. That is the difference between a shoe worn for eight hours and one that stays in the locker after the break.

Underneath sits the SPORTY sole system of multifunctional polyurethane, slip-resistant to SRC and abrasion-resistant, with an MPU midsole and the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM for cushioning. The reinforced toe bumper takes the wear that kneeling work causes first, and the aktiv-X functional lining keeps moisture under control. To DGUV rule 112-191 the model is approved for orthopaedic insoles.

Areas of use

Electronics manufacturing and assembly in temperature-controlled halls, test and repair benches, order picking and stores inside the EPA, summer operation in areas without moisture. The open design plays to its strengths in heat. Where liquids, swarf or sharp-edged parts lie around, a closed model belongs on the foot.

Standards and conformity

  • EN ISO 20345:2012, protection class S1P
  • Slip resistance SRC, tested on ceramic tile with detergent and on steel with glycerine
  • ESD compliant to DIN EN 61340-5-1, person-shoe-floor resistance below 100 MOhm
  • PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425, risk category II
  • Orthopaedic insoles to DGUV rule 112-191
