A shift in assembly quickly adds up to several kilometres and every gram on the foot then counts twice. The RUNNER 155 ESD is a safety low shoe in class S1P to EN ISO 20345:2012 with a mesh upper, a steel toe cap rated for 200 joules of impact and 15 kN of compression and a metal-free XP penetration barrier of aramid fabric. The size range 36 to 48 covers a whole department with a single model.
Why this model
- Charge dissipation as the first argument. The shoe is ESD compliant and keeps the resistance measured by the person-shoe-floor method of DIN EN 61340-5-1 below 100 MOhm. Static charge on the wearer drains through the sole in a controlled way instead of building up on the body. Inside an EPA that is what stops a component failing because somebody walked from the bench to the machine.
- S1P in plain words. S1 means a closed heel, antistatic construction and an energy-absorbing heel area. The P adds the penetration-resistant midsole. Anyone walking over assembly debris, cable tie offcuts or nails has that second layer of protection under the foot.
- XP penetration resistance without metal. Instead of a steel midsole this model uses a high-tech textile containing aramid fibres. It is light, covers the full area and lets the foot torsion work naturally. For ESD zones and metal detector gates that construction is simply more practical.
- Steel toe cap with tested figures. The anatomically shaped toe cap withstands at least 200 joules of impact energy and at least 15 kN of compression to EN ISO 20345:2012. That is a 20 kilogram part dropping onto the forefoot from roughly one metre.
- MESH UPPER against heat build-up. The high-tech fabric wraps the foot closely and its air texture keeps the circulation going. In warm production halls the foot climate stays comfortable into the afternoon and the shoe adds almost no bulk.
- SPORTY sole system in sneaker look. The outsole of multifunctional polyurethane is slip-resistant, hard-wearing and abrasion-resistant, while the MPU midsole with the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM supplies dynamics and cushioning, and the outsole is rated SRC. The shoe looks like a trainer and therefore actually gets worn instead of sitting in the locker.
The reinforced toe bumper absorbs the abrasion that kneeling work causes first and so extends service life. The aktiv-X functional lining regulates moisture actively, does not bleed colour and resists abrasion. Width 10 is the broad ATLAS standard, built on a foot-friendly last. For orthopaedic insoles the model is approved to DGUV rule 112-191.

Areas of use
Electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly, test and measurement benches, repair and service, order picking and stores inside the EPA, maintenance in dry halls. For wet areas or outdoor work a model with water-repellent leather is the better choice, because a mesh upper takes up moisture.
