Storing or shipping sensitive assemblies calls for packaging that keeps electrostatic fields and discharges out. These transparent Desco (SCS) shielding bags are made of a polyester, metal and polyethylene laminate. The buried metal layer limits the discharge energy that passes through to less than 10 nJ, and the dissipative inner and outer surfaces can be discharged via a grounded surface or a grounded operator. The family covers sizes from 50 x 75 to 610 x 610 mm, each pack holds 100 bags.

Applications

Storage and shipping of circuit boards, assemblies, ICs, hard drives and spare parts, order picking in stores, returns and repair loops. For a permanent closure the bags can be heat sealed at 149 to 190 °C.

Meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 and ANSI/ESD S541 for shielding packaging inside and outside the EPA, and ANSI/ESD S11.4 Level 3 (static control bag).
