Ground planes, shield cans and stranded wire of several square millimetres pull away more heat than a narrow tip can supply. The joint stays cold, the setpoint gets turned up, and the assembly pays for it. An 8.0 mm chisel face multiplies the heat transfer area compared with the 2.4 mm standard shape, which lets you work at a lower setpoint.

Technical data

Application

Tinning and attaching stranded wire, solder lugs, ground connections and shield housings, plus busbars and large pads on multilayer boards. For ordinary through-hole assembly the 2.4 mm shape remains the more economical option.

Compatibility

For the i-Tool MK2 and the i-Tool TRACE and i-Con TRACE irons only. A tip this size draws on the power reserve of the iron, so run the station within its intended power profile.
