When the iron and the stand are still in good shape, there is no need to replace the whole station. This i-CON 1 MK2 control unit runs at 150 W across 150 to 450 °C and drives the heating element through three energy levels.
What the control unit does

- Three energy levels: the highest passes full power, the lowest keeps control tight and allows no overshoot.
- Process window that signals visually as soon as the temperature leaves the preselected band.
- One Touch operation with online help and i-Op menu navigation on a large multifunction display.
- Standby function for use with the light and powerful i-TOOL iron.
- The optional i-Set Tool copies settings from one i-CON and loads them onto another station in about 5 seconds, and can lock them.

Use and compatibility
The unit is intended for use with the i-TOOL iron and works with series 142 tips. The i-CON range is stated by the manufacturer to be antistatic. It makes sense as a replacement for a failed control unit or as a second station where iron, tips and stand are already present. Plan for a mains cable separately.
