Vacuum technology
Aventics EBS series ejectors generate vacuum from compressed air using the Venturi principle and are available in nozzle diameters from 5 to 25 mm. The series divides into pneumatically controlled variants (EBS-PI, EBS-PT) and electrically controlled versions (EBS-ET) with NC and NO switching functions. Connection options include DA04, DA06, DA08, DA10 as well as threaded connections M5, G1/8, G1/4, and G3/8. Variants with vacuum monitoring (suffix VE) report the switching status of the gripping system.
The ejector generates vacuum without moving parts, enabling low-maintenance operation at high cycle rates. For rapid blow-off cycles, variants with integrated blow-off port are available that release the suction cup actively and quickly.

Nozzle diameter determines the achievable volume flow and maximum suction capacity. For high vacuum forces (large, heavy parts), larger nozzle diameters are required; for small-part gripping tasks, 5-7 mm suffice. The choice between pneumatic and electric control depends on the automation concept: electrically controlled EBS-ET ejectors can be actuated directly from a PLC and do not require an upstream control valve. Variants with VE vacuum monitoring are suitable for safety-relevant handling processes where gripper failure must be detected.
Typical applications: Decentralized vacuum generation on robot grippers and handling axes without a central vacuum unit, parts handling in assembly automation and pick-and-place systems, placement machines in the electronics industry, handling of glass panes and plastic parts in the packaging and printing industries, and sorting and transfer processes in logistics automation.
