Hyper HSP Cupla
High-Pressure up to 700 Bar
The Nitto Kohki Hyper HSP Cupla is a high-pressure quick coupling in steel with NBR seal and a PV pressure-relief mechanism (PV: Pressure Valve) for operating pressures up to 700 bar. The programme covers 10 items in HS-PV (socket) and HP-PV (plug) configurations in nominal sizes 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. The PV mechanism reduces the pressure surge on disconnection, protecting lines, fittings, and downstream components from pressure spikes.
| Nominal size | Socket (HS-PV) | Plug (HP-PV) | Material | Seal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 2HS-PV | 2HP-PV | Steel | NBR |
| 3 | 3HS-PV | 3HP-PV | Steel | NBR |
| 4 | 4HS-PV | 4HP-PV | Steel | NBR |
| 6 | 6HS-PV | 6HP-PV | Steel | NBR |
| 8 | 8HS-PV | 8HP-PV | Steel | NBR |
Typical applications: Hydraulic test benches and high-pressure measurement systems where pressure surges during line changes must be avoided, sensitive gauges and sensors in high-pressure circuits, hydraulic press systems with frequent tool changes, and offshore and deep-sea applications at operating pressures up to 700 bar.

Operating principle
- Connects hydraulic piping even with residual pressure up to 20.6 MPa {210 kgf/cm2}.
- Purge function will set you free from the troublesome residual pressure elimination before connection and let you achieve efficient and frequent hydraulic pipe line coupling.
- Both socket and plug have built-in automatic shut-off valves to prevent fluid spill out when disconnected.
- Interchangeable with standard HSP CUPLA plug or socket in the same size.
- When connecting, the purge valve positioned at the point of plug valve is depressed to release the residual pressure in plug.
- Residual pressure release (or purge) mechanism: while connecting, the purge valve indicated with a circle is being pushed and releasing the residual pressure.

Pick HYPER HSP CUPLA when a line carrying residual pressure of up to 20.6 MPa {210 kgf/cm2} has to be coupled: HSP CUPLA, 210 CUPLA, S210 CUPLA and HSU CUPLA sit in the same pressure class with the same two-way shut-off, so the choice turns on whether that pressure has to be released at the moment of connection. One HYPER HSP CUPLA part is always paired with a standard HSP CUPLA socket or plug of the same size, which keeps it inside an existing HSP installation. Above 20.6 MPa {210 kgf/cm2} the higher rated 280 CUPLA, 350 CUPLA, 450B CUPLA and 700R CUPLA apply instead.

Interchangeability and size groups
Interchangeable with standard HSP CUPLA plug or socket in the same size. Avoid connecting a HYPER HSP CUPLA socket with a HYPER HSP CUPLA plug - the residual pressure will not release. There is no interchangeability between HSP CUPLA and 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA.
Safety and application notes
- Note: Either socket or plug of HYPER HSP CUPLA must be used on the line where the residual pressure remains. The counterpart of HYPER HSP must be either plug or socket of standard HSP CUPLA.
- HYPER HSP CUPLA can be connected under the residual pressure in the line, but cannot during pressurizing. It may lead to incomplete connection, durability deterioration or possible valve fly out.
- Precautions for use: There is no interchangeability between HSP CUPLA and 210 CUPLA, 280 CUPLA or 450B CUPLA. Do not connect to each other even if sizes are similar.
- Before use, please be sure to read the Safety Guide described at the end of this book and the Instruction Sheet that comes with the products.
