Placement lines and test floors rarely involve standing water, but they involve a lot of walking and even more standing. The VELOCITY 2.0 LOW in blue therefore uses a durable microfibre upper instead of leather. That keeps the shoe light and breathable and leaves the protection untouched. It is a class S1PS safety shoe with a fibreglass toe cap rated for 200 joule impact energy, marked as an ESD version and DGUV certified.
What this model delivers on the floor
- The charge goes into the floor, not into the assembly. The manufacturer marks this model as an ESD version, which makes it one building block of a workplace to DIN EN 61340-5-1. That standard requires the person-shoe-floor system to stay below 100 megohm. EN ISO 20345 only asks an antistatic shoe for a value between 100 kilohm and 1000 megohm, so it is no ESD proof on its own. That gap decides whether an operator discharges into the assembly. The damage rarely shows at once, it shows as an early field failure.
- S1PS in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic build, energy absorbing heel rated at 20 joule, fuel-oil resistant outsole and a puncture resistant insert. The suffix PS stands for the metal-free insert, tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail at 1100 newton. Unlike the S3 classes, the manufacturer lists no water protection for this model, so it belongs in dry areas.
- Microfibre instead of leather. The upper is built from durable microfibre with TPU reinforcement. It takes on less weight than leather, dries faster and is easier to keep clean in cleanroom ante-rooms. Toe cap and heel protection guard the zones that suffer first in daily use.
- Metal-free from cap to sole. A fibreglass toe cap for the 200 joule impact energy and 15 kilonewton compression required by EN ISO 20345, plus the flexible FAP puncture insert. No metal means a clean pass at the detector gate, no cold bridge in winter and no interference with sensitive measuring equipment.
- Quick-lace cord system. The elastic pull closes the upper in seconds and evenly, with no loose ends. A spare pair of conventional laces comes in every box.
- Up to 55 percent energy return. The MOTION IMPULSE rubber outsole withstands contact heat up to 300 degrees Celsius (HRO), resists fuel oil (FO) and passes the additional slip test (SR). Above it sits a twice-foamed IMPULSE.FOAM midsole in two densities that, according to the manufacturer, returns up to 55 percent of the impact energy to the wearer. The Evercushion BA footbed supports the natural roll of the foot and the BreathActive functional lining moves moisture out. The anatomical shape with longitudinal arch support takes load off joints and ligaments across a full shift. The manufacturer size chart lists the men's range in width 11.

Applications
Electronics manufacturing and placement, test and measuring stations, repair and service, cleanroom ante-rooms, light assembly and order picking in dry halls. For wet work, outdoor duty or areas with standing liquid, the S3S model in full-grain leather is the right choice.
Standards and conformity
PUMA SAFETY lists this model in class S1PS with the additional marking ESD, FO, HRO and SR. The letter class S1PS and the SR marking come from EN ISO 20345:2022, the edition that distinguishes puncture resistant inserts by design. The letter S denotes a metal-free insert tested with the small 3.0 millimetre nail at 1100 newton test force. The marking FO stands for the fuel-oil resistant outsole, HRO for contact heat resistance up to 300 degrees Celsius, SR for the additional slip resistance test and ESD for the dissipative build. Proof of ESD at the workplace still runs through DIN EN 61340-5-1 and the measurement in the person-shoe-floor system. The shoe is DGUV certified and falls under PPE risk category 2.
