A women model on a women last rather than a downsized men shoe. The BEAT WNS LOW belongs to the MOTION PROTECT WOMEN line and covers sizes 36 to 42. It carries safety class S1 to EN ISO 20345 and is additionally listed by the manufacturer as an ESD shoe, so it is meant for workplaces run to DIN EN 61340-5-1 where the wearer charge has to drain in a controlled way.

What the shoe delivers

• Charge dissipation in daily use. DIN EN 61340-5-1 asks for a person-shoe-floor system resistance below 100 MOhm at the ESD workplace. EN ISO 20345 in turn allows antistatic footwear the wide range from 0.1 to 1000 MOhm and is no ESD proof. PUMA Safety lists the BEAT WNS LOW explicitly as an ESD shoe.
• Safety class S1 translated. Closed heel region, antistatic construction, energy absorbing heel region of at least 20 joule and a fuel oil resistant outsole. S1 does not include penetration resistance, that is what S1P or S3 is for.
• Fibreglass cap instead of steel. The toe cap withstands 200 joule impact and 15 kilonewton compression under EN ISO 20345 and stays metal-free. The whole shoe is built without metal and is made vegan.
• Cushioning in two densities. The MOTION IMPULSE Triple Density rubber outsole carries an IMPULSE.FOAM midsole in two different densities, a soft zone for cushioning and a firmer zone for stability.
• Outsole for warm floors. To HRO the outsole is tested against contact heat of 300 degrees Celsius, to SRC it is slip resistant on two surfaces, ceramic with detergent and steel with glycerine.
• Climate and edge protection. The sandwich mesh is highly breathable and the BreathActive functional lining moves moisture outwards. TPU elements at the toe, heel and eyelets take the abrasion.

Electronics manufacturing and EPA areas, test and final inspection, light assembly, laboratory and cleanroom ante-rooms, warehouse and order picking. Where nails or splinters lie on the floor, a model with penetration resistance is the right choice.

Standards and compliance

EN ISO 20345, safety class S1 with the markings ESD, HRO for resistance to contact heat and SRC for slip resistance on two test floors. Personal protective equipment of category 2 under EU regulation 2016/425. The ESD workplace additionally follows DIN EN 61340-5-1. That proof is measured on site because the floor covering forms part of the result.
