On hard industrial floors the midsole decides how your back feels after the shift. The CHARGE LOW from the PUMA Safety MOTION CL line combines an IMPULSE.FOAM midsole with the POWER PLATE torsion element that limits twisting through the midfoot. The green version stays easy to spot on the shop floor. The shoe drains the wearer's electrostatic charge through sole and floor. DIN EN 61340-5-1 requires the person, shoe and floor resistance in an EPA to stay below 100 MOhm. That is what this version is built for, and PUMA Safety lists it as an ESD shoe in its own data sheet. The antistatic base property under EN ISO 20345 allows anything from 0.1 MOhm to 1000 MOhm and is therefore no ESD proof on its own. What counts in the end is the installed system of person, shoe and floor.

What sets this model apart

• Safety class S1P means a closed heel area, antistatic construction, an energy absorbing heel region and a penetration resistant insert in the sole. On dry shop and production floors that is the usual choice. A water resistant upper as in S2 or S3 is not part of this class.
• Fibreglass toe cap to EN ISO 20345, tested at 200 joules impact energy and 15 kN compression. It is metal free, so it does not set off gate detectors and does not carry cold to the toes in winter.
• FAP lite penetration resistant insert in non metallic textile, tested at a test force of 1100 N. Unlike a steel midsole it covers the sole area into the ball of the foot, stays flexible and saves weight.
• Outsole: MOTION CL rubber outsole with IMPULSE.FOAM midsole and POWER PLATE torsion element. Combined with the evercushion CUSTOM FIT MID footbed, which spreads pressure across the whole area.
• BreathActive functional lining and an upper in SAFETY KNIT knitted textile. The combination moves moisture outwards, which over a full shift is the difference between a dry foot and a clammy one.
• Closure: laced. Further features: metal free, vegan, TPU toe cap and heel protection, TPU eyelet element. The manufacturer lists this model as DGUV certified.

Applications

Placement, assembly and rework in electronics production, test and measuring stations, goods receipt and order picking inside the EPA, service work on sensitive assemblies. For wet areas or outdoor work in the rain, a class S2 or S3 model is the right choice.
