Cable terminations and stranded wire need more contact area than a fine bevel offers, yet should still be approached at a low angle. The 45 degree bevel on a 3.0 mm body stretches the elliptical face to roughly 4.2 mm by calculation and stays within the 200 W version of the TSS10 range.

What the geometry does

• At 3.0 mm this is the largest round form in the 200 W line, so a matching amount of material stands by as heat reserve.
• The stretched elliptical face holds a bigger solder reserve than the 1.0 and 2.0 mm bevels, which speeds up tinning stranded wire.
• Despite the size the 45 degree angle can still be laid flat, keeping the joint in view.
• 200 W version for fine to medium heat demand, here with the largest contact face of that power class.
• Tip and heater form one unit in the TSS10 range, on the Quick TS10 roughly 3 seconds to 300 °C are possible, reference is the 1.6 mm tip.
• Thermocouple inside the tip and a chip holding the calibration value for comparable readings after a change.

Applications

Cable terminations, stranded wire, connector contacts, through hole leads, larger pads and tracks in workshop, service, assembly and rework. Small SMD pads are handled more accurately by the 1.0 and 2.0 mm bevels, cable lugs and ground planes belong to the 300 W versions.
