At the loading ramp, in an unheated outdoor store and in chilled areas it turns out whether an ESD shoe is still worn in winter at all. The C 855 XP Thermo is a class S3 safety boot with faux fur lining and full-grain waterproof cowhide of around 2 mm. It is built entirely without metal and is ESD compliant, so cold, wet and charge dissipation are covered by one model.

What this boot delivers

• Charge drains away instead of building up. The boot is ESD compliant and therefore part of the protection concept to DIN EN 61340-5-1. On a dissipative floor the wearer charge flows away continuously instead of building up until the hand reaches the assembly. In winter, when dry heated air encourages charging, that path to ground matters most.
• S3 in plain words. Closed heel area, antistatic construction, energy absorption in the heel, water-resistant upper, penetration resistance and a cleated outsole. It is the highest of the common basic classes of EN ISO 20345 and the usual choice where work moves between indoors and outdoors.
• Waterproof smooth leather, around 2 mm thick. Full-grain cowhide that stays tight for hours while remaining breathable and dimensionally stable. The MPU overcap protects the toe area against abrasion, which is exactly where kneeling work wears a boot down first.
• Faux fur lining for cold shifts. The soft faux fur lining keeps the foot warm at low temperatures without a second pair of socks ruining the fit. Anyone moving between hall and yard saves the change of footwear.
• C-TEC plastic toe cap, 200 joules without metal. The anatomically shaped toe cap made of high-tech plastic withstands the 200 joules of impact energy and 15 kN of compression required by EN ISO 20345. It shifts the centre of gravity towards the middle of the foot and behaves thermally neutral, so no cold bridge forms inside the boot. Together with the metal-free XP aramid insert, tested at 1100 newtons, the whole boot stays free of metal.
• Cushioning that lasts the shift. The MPU INNOFLEX outsole system guides the forces along the INNOFLEX LINE from heel to toe, the CLOUDZONE in the heel absorbs the impact and the MPU REBOUND SYSTEM of pressure-relieving insole and light MPU foam returns the energy. Slip resistance SRC. The model is marked as suitable for orthopaedic insoles to DGUV rule 112-191.

Goods-in, ramp and loading, unheated stores and outdoor areas, chilled zones, maintenance and assembly during the cold season, workshop and test field with an ESD requirement. For permanently air-conditioned cleanrooms a lighter low shoe is the better fit.
