On PCBs and assemblies, dust often sits between components where a nozzle alone cannot reach. The dusting brush fits onto the vacuum hose, the bristles loosen the dust and the airflow carries it away directly. Because the brush is static dissipative, no charge builds up while brushing that could endanger sensitive parts.

The 497 series ESD vacuums are designed for use in an EPA. Hose and accessories are conductive or dissipative, and charges drain through the grounding conductor of the power cord when the unit runs from a grounded outlet.
