Soldering and desoldering tips
Desoldering tips for SX irons
This category holds desoldering tips for the PACE Sodr-X-Tractor SX-90 and SX-100 as well as Endura tips for the SX-70 and SX-80. The tubular tip surrounds the lead, melts the solder in the plated hole and the handpiece vacuum draws it off. Available geometries are ThermoDrive, ThermoMax, Precision and Flo-D-Sodr with inner diameters from 0.5 to 4 mm. Tips for removing SMD components are in the neighbouring category for MiniTweez, ThermoPik and Blade.

How to choose Desoldering tips for SX irons
What matters when choosing: properties, comparison and typical applications.
Selection criteria
| Criterion | Options | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Handpiece | SX-90/SX-100, SX-70/SX-80 | The Endura tips are specified for the SX-70 and SX-80. |
| Inner diameter | 0.5 to 4 mm | The tip should fit over the lead with some clearance so that air and solder are drawn through. |
| Outer diameter | depends on geometry | Slightly smaller than the pad so the tip does not touch the base material. |
| Geometry | ThermoDrive, ThermoMax, Precision, Flo-D-Sodr, Flathead | ThermoDrive is the standard geometry, Precision targets small pads. |
| Length | standard, Extended Reach, extended | Long tips reach joints between tall components. |

FAQ
- How do I choose the inner diameter?
- The bore should be slightly larger than the lead so that air and solder are drawn through the tip. The outer diameter should be slightly smaller than the pad.
- How do ThermoDrive and ThermoMax differ?
- ThermoDrive is the standard equipment of the SX-90/SX-100 range with a sturdy wall. ThermoMax has a slimmer outer diameter for the same inner diameter.
- Do the tips for SX-90 and SX-100 also fit the SX-70?
- Tips 1121-093x and 1121-094x are specified for the SX-90 and SX-100. For the SX-70 and SX-80 this category offers the Endura tips.
- When do I need Extended Reach?
- When tall components such as electrolytic capacitors stand next to the joint. The longer tip reaches the lead without the handpiece hitting them.
