Dry scanner cleaning kit, 30 mm brush and 450 x 250 mm cloth - Kinetronics CS-030

The glass bed of a flatbed scanner carries a special coating, and household glass cleaners containing ammonia attack exactly that coating. The Kinetronics CS-030 therefore works without any liquid. The SW-030 anti-static brush with its 30 mm working width takes dust and lint off the glass and out of the edges, then the 450 x 250 mm Tiger Cloth clears the surface in a few passes without creating a fresh charge. Both parts come in a reusable plastic box.

Benefits

• Dry instead of ammonia: the coating on the scanner glass is left alone, because no cleaning agent ever touches it.
• Brush and cloth split the work: the 30 mm brush picks up loose material, including along the edge of the bed and the glass rim, and the large cloth then takes the surface.
• No charge built up while wiping: the conductive plastic handle of the brush and the conductive polyester fibres woven into the cloth every 4 mm drain the charge, measured below 10 megohm dry to Kinetronics test method TC-01.
• For the originals as well: negatives, slides, photos and transparencies can be dusted before scanning so that particles do not end up in the scan.
• Both parts are reusable: the brush is washed out with a mild shampoo, the cloth at 30 °C in the machine, and the anti-static properties survive it.

Applications

The main job is the glass bed of flatbed scanners. Run the brush over the glass first so dust and lint leave the surface and the corners, then use the cloth. Beyond that the kit removes dirt from negatives, slides, photos and transparencies before scanning. Any particle already sitting on the glass or on the original shows up in the result and costs retouching time later.

Care

Wash the brush out with a mild shampoo, comb the fibres afterwards and leave it to dry flat overnight. It must not be used above 65 °C. Wash the cloth at 30 °C with other synthetics, gentle cycle, then tumble dry on low heat. Washing does not affect the anti-static properties of either part. Between jobs brush and cloth belong back in the box.
