Forced ventilation baking oven Sahara DRY 400 l with humidity control below 5 % RH - Iteco 8107114

Processing complete drying batches of reels, JEDEC trays and printed boards in a single run calls for volume and controlled humidity. The Sahara DRY 400 l is the largest model of the range with humidity control and keeps the chamber below 5 % RH during low temperature baking between 40 and 100 °C, without blowing dry air continuously.

Operating features

• Sealed chamber instead of continuous purging - unlike the Sahara models the inner chamber has improved air tightness, dry air is only added when the setpoint calls for it.
• Humidity measured from 1 to 95 % RH - the electronic humidity control works with a display accuracy of 2 % RH and a resolution of 0.1 % RH.
• Two dehumidification modes - Fast dehumidifies at the highest possible speed, Eco adjusts proportionally and brings average compressed air consumption down to 30 nl per minute.
• Temperature up to 280 °C - this covers PCB baking at 105 to 125 °C per IPC-1602 as well as the 125 °C step of J-STD-033.
• Four operating modes - SetPoint, Countdown from 1 minute to 999 hours 59 minutes, programmed start-up at a set date and time, and thermal programmer.
• Datalogger fitted as standard - temperature and humidity histories are recorded for traceability and can be read out with option 8107.215.
• Nitrogen operation possible - baking in an inert atmosphere reduces oxidation of printed boards and SMD components.

Applications

Resetting the floor life of MSD components to J-STD-033, where the worst case duration is 79 days at 40 °C, 10 days at 90 °C and 96 hours at 125 °C. Drying printed boards before reflow to IPC-1602 at 105 to 125 °C for 4 to 6 hours. Thermal cycles for testing or for heating and cooling material with a preset temperature gradient.

Compatibility and scope of supply

The oven is connected to dry compressed air at 3 to 8 bar. A standard centralised compressed air system at 7 bar with a dew point below 3 °C is normally sufficient. Additional shelves for the 400 l size are listed by Iteco under 8107.160, and the programming and evaluation package consisting of PidManager software and a special USB cable under 8107.215. Available options are the door with a 200 x 200 mm inspection window (8107.117) and the lateral cable port of 50 mm diameter (8107.121). The 2026 catalogue model table carries no dedicated row with external dimensions, rated power and weight for the Sahara DRY 400 l version, so these figures have to be requested from the manufacturer. Made in Italy.

Standards

The range is designed for baking printed boards to IPC-1602 and for baking moisture sensitive SMD components to JEDEC J-STD-033. For the 40 °C and 90 °C steps of J-STD-033 Iteco explicitly recommends the Sahara DRY version with humidity control.
