Pneumatic drives
Festo tandem cylinders, high-force cylinders and multi-position cylinders are special-purpose pneumatic linear actuators for tasks that cannot be resolved with a standard round cylinder. Tandem cylinders double the effective piston area at the same installation length, significantly increasing the feed force. Multi-position kits from the DPNA, DPNC and DPVU series provide up to four discrete intermediate positions by mechanically seriesing multiple cylinders. The range covers bore sizes from 12 to 125 mm.

The kit bore must match the base cylinder. By selecting individual strokes deliberately, evenly spaced intermediate positions are achieved.
Typical applications: Multi-stroke tasks in assembly automation (e.g. three stroke positions for low, mid and high level), high-force applications in punching and pressing tools without hydraulic actuation, and clamping fixtures where different workpiece heights are served by a single drive.
