Dryer
Compressed air preparation
Festo compressed air dryers lower the pressure dew point of compressed air to a level that prevents condensate formation in downstream lines and equipment. The range covers two drying principles: membrane dryers of the MS series (MS4-LDM1, MS6-LDM1) for modular integration into service block assemblies, and adsorption dryers of the PDAD series (PDAD-09 to PDAD-100) for higher flow rates and lower dew points. The PDAD series covers port sizes G 3/8 and G 1/2, with rated flow rates from 9 to 100 Nl/min.
| Feature | MS4/MS6-LDM1 (Membrane) | PDAD (Adsorption) |
|---|---|---|
| Drying principle | Membrane channel drying | Adsorption (two-chamber) |
| Dew point reduction | Moderate dew point reduction | Deeper dew points achievable |
| Rated flow rate | MS4: 10 Nl/min, MS6: 20-40 Nl/min | 9 to 100 Nl/min (PDAD-09 to -100) |
| Port | G 1/4, G 1/2 (module) | G 3/8, G 1/2 (PDAD) |
| Maintenance effort | Very low | Periodic desiccant inspection |
| Application | Compact systems, MS system | Instrument air, sensor supply |
Typical applications: Instrument air supply for pressure transmitters, position sensors, and analysers requiring dry compressed air, control air for pneumatic valves in outdoor installations subject to frost risk, compressed air supply in electronics assembly and optical manufacturing, and cleanroom applications where condensate-free compressed air is a mandatory requirement.
