HI Cupla BL
Quick couplings
The Nitto Kohki HI Cupla BL is a quick coupling in steel and stainless steel (SUS) with NBR seal and ball-lock retention (BL: Ball Lock). The programme includes 18 items in plug (SH) and socket configurations across nominal sizes 20, 30, and 40. The BL locking uses a ball-detent mechanism that reliably secures the connection under pressure and vibration. Stainless steel versions (SUS) provide enhanced corrosion resistance for aggressive environments.

Typical applications: Compressed-air lines on vibration-loaded machines and vehicles, chemical and petrochemical plants where corrosion resistance is required (SUS), coupling of air lines under working pressure without full depressurisation, and pneumatic systems requiring an easily releasable yet vibration-proof connection.

Operating principle
- Separation prevention mechanism prevents accidental disconnection.
- An excellent general purpose coupling for connecting factory air supply to pneumatic tools.
- Steel coupling is suitable for air. Stainless steel is suitable for water. Note that fluid will come out from the plug when disconnected.
- Critical structural parts made of steel are heat-treated for increased strength giving greater durability and resistance to wear.
- Various body materials, sizes, and end configurations are available.
- SN-BL type for connection to urethane hose requires no hose clamp.
- Separation prevention mechanism is easily locked by turning the sleeve after connection.

HI CUPLA BL suits a 1.5 MPa {15 kgf/cm2} line that has to be secured against accidental disconnection: it is one-way shut-off like NUT CUPLA, LOCK CUPLA 200, HI CUPLA Two Way Type, ROTARY LINE CUPLA, ROTARY FULL BLOW LINE CUPLA and ROTARY PLUG at the same pressure, but adds the sleeve lock. Where no fluid may escape at disconnection, COMPACT ZEROSPILL CUPLA shuts off on both sides, at the cost of a working pressure limited to 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2}; the same 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2} limit applies to TWIST PLUG. Up to 1.5 MPa {15 kgf/cm2} all of these series are candidates, so the decision rests on the locking requirement rather than on the pressure rating.

Interchangeability and size groups
Interchangeable with plugs of HI CUPLA models 10, 17, 20, 30 and 40. Interchangeable with each models of NUT CUPLA series and HI CUPLA series (except models 400, 600, and 800). Please see page 21 for HI CUPLA Series Interchangeability.

- Note that fluid will come out from the plug when disconnected, because the valve structure is one-way shut-off.
