Die assembly center lead shifted with 3 lead lock TO218 for Supercut/TOCF - Iteco 132700

On TO218 power transistors the center lead is often routed to a staggered pad, so that the spacing to the two outer leads increases. This die assembly performs exactly that operation on the Supercut/TOCF: it shifts the center lead of the TO218 out of line and forms a locking loop on all three leads, which holds the device in the hole until soldering.

Operating features

• Center lead moved out of line - the middle wire meets the staggered pad without any manual bending at the insertion station.
• Lock-in on all three leads - the formed loops keep the device seated, also while the board travels to the soldering machine.
• Matched to the TO218 package - clamping range and forming geometry follow the large power package, not the smaller TO220.
• Cutting and forming in one cycle - the machine trims the leads and shapes them in the same operation.
• Up to 3000 pieces per hour - the shape is produced at the normal cycle rate of the Supercut/TOCF.

Applications

Power supplies, motor controls and drives with upright TO218 transistors whose layout uses a staggered center pad for creepage reasons. Also assemblies that are moved before soldering and therefore need locked leads.

Compatibility and scope of supply

The die works only in the Supercut/TOCF automatic machine, listed by Iteco under 7915.176 and 7915.177 in two voltage versions. The machine ships without tooling and every forming shape needs its own die. Each package additionally requires the matching clamping piece and tube holder. Supplied as one complete die assembly. Made in Italy.
