Surface mounting die assembly for Supercut/TS1 cutting and forming machine - Iteco 181400

Mounting a leaded radial component flat on the board requires a step in each lead so that the body rests on the surface while the lead ends still enter the holes vertically. Die assembly 181400 produces that shape in the Supercut/TS1 in a single foot pedal stroke, together with trimming the leads to length, 2000 times per hour.

Operating features

• Low build height - the step in the lead lays the component body on the board surface and lowers the height of the assembly
• Forming and cutting in one stroke - the two external dies form the step and trim the leads to length at the same time
• Repeatable step height - every component leaves the die with the same offset, which keeps a row of parts at one level
• Large components included - the TS1 handles parts up to 140 mm long with a lead pitch up to 45 mm, so the shape is not limited to small parts
• Quick die change - the assembly can be swapped for any other forming shape of the range without reworking the machine

Applications

Flat mounting of capacitors, resistors and chokes in assemblies with restricted height, for example in slim enclosures, plug-in boards and luminaires. Also used where components must lie on the board instead of standing upright because of vibration.

Compatibility and scope of supply

The die assembly works only in the pneumatic Supercut/TS1, which Iteco supplies without tooling under part number 7915.171. On the smaller Supercut/RS4 (7915.166) the same forming shape carries part number 161400. Changing to another forming shape of the range takes only a few moves and the machine stays the same. On request Iteco supplies the machine with a wire holder system and in a three cylinder version with custom dies for special shapes. Supplied as one complete die assembly. Made in Italy.
