Festo flow sensors of the SFAM and SFAB series measure the volumetric flow of compressed air in pneumatic supply lines and consumption circuits, providing measured values as a switching signal or analogue output. The SFAM-62 series covers measuring ranges up to 5000 l/min, in T-branch installation (TG12) or inline (M) variants. The SFAB series extends the range for smaller nominal bores up to 1000 l/min.
All types feature an M12 connector and deliver two switching outputs (2SA = PNP, 2SV = NPN). The ATEX variant SFAB-1000U-HQ12-2SA-M12-EX2 is approved for Zone 2 use. The sensors operate on the thermal measurement principle and measure mass flow independently of pressure and temperature within the operating limits.

Typical applications: Early leak detection in compressed air supply networks by continuous consumption monitoring, energy monitoring in compressed air supply of production plants, minimum flow monitoring at critical consumers, consumption metering for billing and optimisation purposes, and leak alarm on exceeding or falling below set threshold values.
