Festo proximity switches of the SME, SMTO and SMEO series detect end positions of pneumatic cylinders and linear actuators without contact, using the permanent magnet integrated in the piston. Common designs include T-slot mounting for cylinders with C-slot (SME-8, SME-10) and rod mounting for round and profile cylinders. Operating voltage 10-30 V DC, LED status indicator and PNP/NPN switching output are standard across the entire series.
SMTO variants additionally provide an M12 device connector for tool-free field wiring. Special types SMT-10M-PS-24V with M8D design and SMTSO variants with double locking nut increase tamper resistance in Ex-protected or harsh environments. Mounting brackets SMBN-10 supplement the installation options.

Typical applications: End-position detection on round cylinders, ISO cylinders and slide linear actuators in handling and assembly systems, position feedback for PLC controls in conveyor and transfer systems, use in safety circuits for stroke end-position verification, and replacement of mechanical limit switches in existing installations.
