T38 Series

Soldering and Desoldering Tips

The Hakko T38 series covers composite soldering tips for compatible Hakko irons, available in two temperature classes: 400°C (T38-02x) and 350°C (T38-03x). The range spans the tip shapes I (straight), IS, J (angled), JS, K (knife), 1L and 2L. The "Composite" designation refers to the multi-layer tip construction of copper base, iron coating and chrome protection, which ensures longer service life and consistent heat transfer.

The composite construction (copper core, iron shell, chrome plating) improves heat transfer efficiency and protects the tip against oxidation and solder corrosion. The I shape is suited for spot soldering on fine pads, J and JS for angled access positions, K (knife) for removing solder bridges, and the L1/L2 shapes for work with defined solder volumes. The temperature class (400°C vs. 350°C) is selected according to the solder alloy and thermal sensitivity of the components.

Typical applications: Hand soldering on SMD components in electronics manufacturing and rework, precision soldering on ICs and fine-pitch parts, PCB repair in production and laboratory, hand soldering with lead-free solder (higher temperature class 400°C), and work on heat-sensitive components (350°C variants). The compact L1/L2 geometry is suited for solder-depot work.
