Soldering tips

The Weller RTM-MS series covers micro soldering tips for WXMP and WMRP irons that meet MIL-SPEC qualification requirements. The "MS" designation identifies tips suitable for repair and manufacturing processes to military soldering standards such as J-STD-001 Class 3. The range covers the same geometries as the standard RTM line: conical (0.1-0.8 mm), chisel (0.2x0.1-3.6x0.9 mm), bevel, knife and solder depot, plus NW (non-wettable, chrome-plated) variants for handling 0201/0204 components.

All RTM-MS tips carry MIL-SPEC certification and are qualified for use in aerospace, defence and other regulated manufacturing environments. Additional bent variants (RTM 004 CxMS, RTM 005 CxMS conical bent) and the non-wettable RTM 003 S NW MS (chisel 0.3x0.1 mm) are exclusive to this line.

RTM-MS tips are geometrically identical to the standard RTM tips and available in the same shapes. The difference lies in MIL-SPEC certification, which ensures full traceability, solder control and material qualification to military standards. For non-regulated civilian SMD rework, the standard RTM line is sufficient. Both series are compatible with WXMP and WMRP irons.

Typical applications: ESD-sensitive component repair and rework to IPC-7711/7721, soldering in regulated manufacturing to J-STD-001 Class 3, aerospace electronics (AS9100, MIL-STD-2000), defence electronics and medical device manufacturing (IEC 62368-1), prototype assembly for safety-critical boards, and quality and test processes requiring full documentation.
